Trauma doesn’t discriminate; young, old, male, and female are all equally susceptible to trauma’s effects. Trauma can develop from something we’ve experienced or something we’ve witnessed and because each of us perceives events differently, no two people experience trauma in exactly the same way. It can impact how we see and feel about ourselves and how we relate to others. Trauma can keep us locked in the past, unable to see a way forward. Fortunately, there are methods for resolving the effects of trauma, one of them being Somatic Experiencing. This gentle approach can release us from trauma’s often powerful, grip and will allow us to transition from a difficult past into a hopeful future.
